The comprehensive programme promises to be all-embracing in this regard with a selection of sub-themes comprising leadership and governance, people-centered systems, health financing, and not least, pandemic preparedness.
De-privileging health, the politics of health and the one health approach will be among the critical aspects for deliberation under leadership and governance, while social determinants of health will be a key topic during the people-centered health systems discussions.
Sustainable financing will be an obvious focal point in the health financing discussions along with effective and efficient use of resources in health. Of topical interest will be the health financing of universal health coverage on the continent.
Also topical in the light of recent history will be debates on pandemic readiness with emphasis on a fit-for-purpose workforce and, as with many of the other health management considerations, community-led surveillance.
